OUR HISTORY

APRIL 2020

The initial idea came about quite obviously: during a waste management mission for a major construction company in Mauritius, Stéphanie realized that there was untapped potential: many companies had unused resources, while others, including private individuals, were actively looking for local and affordable materials. A simple solution was needed: to create synergy between these players via a market place.

ABOUT US

La Déchetèque: Pioneer of Circular Economy in Mauritius
Founded in 2021 by Stéphanie Bouloc, an entrepreneur committed to the circular economy, has quickly established itself as a key player in transforming reuse and recycling practices in Mauritius. Our vision is to create a robust circular economy, fostering environmental and social impact by promoting sustainable resource management.
Nathalie Sanchez has joined the Board of Directors and is involved in strengthening the training pillar from 2022. The Eclosia group joined us in 2024 to strengthen the approach.

BUSINESS SOLUTIONS

Innovative Solutions for Circular Economy: La Déchetèque offers comprehensive solutions for getting involved in the circular economy. Our services for businesses, including our diagnostics, offer customized approaches for a sustainable transformation of business models, from deconstruction to resource recovery. One of the channels in which we treat waste - reuse - is through our showroom and digital platform for transparent and efficient traceability. We offer a global solution throughout the value chain, from supply to training, optimising outlets to ensure circular practices adapted to new business models.

PARTNERSHIP

Strategic Collaborations: La Déchetèque surrounds itself with partners dedicated to advancing the circular economy in the Indian Ocean. Through these strategic collaborations, we amplify our impact and extend our reach. Our diverse and committed partners include environmental organisations, associations, businesses, public institutions, government institutions, universities and civil society. Together, we are working towards a more sustainable Mauritius.

DIAGNOSTIC RESOURCES

Resource Valuation for Innovative Companies
If you’re a sustainability-minded business looking to integrate the circular economy into your long-term strategy, our Resource Diagnostics service is designed for you. Our experts carry out an in-depth analysis of your on-site resources, identifying reusable materials and guiding you in developing effective reuse strategies. This tailor-made service is an ideal solution for any company looking to optimise its practices from a sustainable development perspective.

PEMD DIAGNOSIS

For companies planning a major demolition or refurbishment project, our PEMD (Product Equipment Materials Waste) diagnostic is an essential tool. It assesses the nature, quantity and location of construction materials, helping to determine the waste to be disposed of and the opportunities for recycling or reuse. This diagnosis helps to plan waste disposal, maximise revenue from re-use and reduce the overall costs of the construction project, offering a clean, anticipated solution for your renovation project.

WASTE MANAGEMENT

A sustainable and efficient approach
At La Déchetèque, our waste management service - in line with the waste hierarchy pyramid - enables us to take optimum action with your waste streams. We work with you to reduce waste production at source, optimising sorting and recycling processes, and identifying the best disposal options. Our aim is to develop environmentally-friendly waste management strategies tailored to your needs. By integrating tools specific to this practice, we support you and your teams towards a sustainable future.

VISION

Transforming prevention, awareness and action in the circular economy into standards of use.
We firmly believe that it is through practice that we learn and evolve.
We envisage the creation of a collaborative ecosystem involving both public institutions and the private sector, to realise and maximise the impact of these practices. Our goal is ambitious but achievable: to divert 200 tonnes of materials from landfill (the Mare Chicose site) over the next three years, by effectively recovering them.
Our credo: together we are stronger, together we go further. By pooling our efforts, we can generate a considerable positive impact on our environment and our communities.

VALUES

At the heart of our commitment are fundamental values: respect for the environment, valuing each individual, commitment to responsible innovation, and promoting collaboration based on collective intelligence. These principles guide everything we do.
We actively integrate the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in particular SDG5 (gender equality), SDG12 (sustainable consumption and production), SDG13 (climate action), and SDG17 (partnership) into our daily operations. By focusing on sustainability and equality, we are committed to creating a future where our activities respect and enrich our world and its people.

EDUCATION

To implement new economic models and become a change maker, it is essential to be trained and educated by a facilitator who can guide you along the path to that change. With our partner and associate Alinae Consulting, https://www.alinae-consulting.com/ https://www.alinae-consulting.com , Nathalie Sanchez creates and develops workshops on the circular economy for Mauritian businesses, in order to educate, raise awareness and train our country’s economic players, including businesses and individuals. Alinae Consulting’s expertise, fully adapted to Mauritian culture and ideology, focuses on empowering people as well as implementing new business models. As an HRDC-approved company, we will design a programme tailored to your needs.

MISSION

Given the urgent need to protect the environment, our team has set itself a crucial mission : to innovate in order to reduce waste, encourage the reuse of materials and promote circular economy. We are committed to educating and supporting both businesses and individuals in adopting sustainable practices.
We have identified untapped potential: many businesses have unused resources, while others, including individuals, are actively seeking local and affordable materials. Our solution aims to create a synergy between these players.
By linking these two needs, we are facilitating the re-use of resources available on Mauritius, paving the way for new construction, renovation and artistic projects, while supporting the local economy and preserving our environment.”

MARKET PLACE

Our digital Marketplace is positioned as a forward-thinking platform, creating a bridge between buyers and sellers of reusable materials. It represents a dynamic ecosystem where materials are given a new lease of life, helping to reduce waste and foster a more circular economy. Designed for intuitive use, our Marketplace is accessible 24/7, offering a diversity of materials suited to all your construction, renovation or interior design projects. It simplifies the process of finding and acquiring sustainable materials, making the circular economy accessible to everyone.

KASE RANZE

In line with our commitment to a circular economy and complementing our digital Marketplace, we are delighted to introduce our new facility: Kase Ranze, a physical space located in Floréal, within the premises of Nouvelle Usine. Kase Ranze embodies our vision of a local future where the community can meet, exchange, learn, resell, and reuse.
This unique venue offers an immersive experience in the world of the circular economy. It is not just a store but a true meeting hub for those who share our commitment to reducing waste. Here, you can not only buy and sell or donate reusable materials, but also participate in workshops, seminars, and events dedicated to raising awareness and educating on sustainable practices. We believe that this space will become a reference point for all those who wish to contribute to a more sustainable future in Mauritius.

Kase Ranze aligns with our goal of creating stronger connections among community members, fostering local exchanges, and making the circular economy more tangible and accessible.

OUR COMMITMENTS

Our commitment to the UN's ‘Sustainable Development Goals’ is reflected in every aspect of our work, from raising awareness to implementing concrete solutions.
